Circular economy, Innovation, Sustainability
Boortmalt, the world's leading malting company, is present on 5 continents. With their 27 malting plants, they have a production capacity of at least 3 millions tonnes! Furthermore, Boortmalt’s expertise is widely acknowledged by brewers and distillers who rely on the supply of top quality barley malt. As world’s biggest malt producer, Boortmalt is convinced that they should take the lead in terms of sustainability in the market. That’s why sustainability through continuous innovation is one of their main principles. The malting process, based on the germination of barley, consumes a lot of water and contributes to water scarcity. During this project, students will explore multiple opportunities that decrease the water footprint of Boortmalts plants. During these project, all the possible solutions are evaluated using a cost-benefit analysis.
